Cavalry sword

The Crown of Aragon and a whole and Catalonia in particular lived in a climate of constant war from the landing of the allied troops in Barcelona in the autumn of 1705 to September 1714, when the strongholds of Barcelona and Cardona finally fell. Catalonia benefited from its considerable arms industry, an example of its output being this blunderbuss. In addition to the bayonet, gun and sword, the officer's spontoon is of interest and is of imperial provenance, as demonstrated by the outline of the two eagles decorating it and the coat of arms of the Council of a Hundred of Barcelona.
