Battle of Montetorrero

Victory at Almenar enabled the allied troops to advance into Aragon. Felipe V, who had almost been taken prisoner at Almenar and had sought refuge in Lleida, made his way with his army to Zaragoza. The two armies clashed once again at Montetorrero, on the outskirts of the city of Zaragoza, on 20 August 1710, resulting in victory for the Hapsburg forces. There were 4,000 casualties on the Bourbon side.
